Starting as a complete novice, Johnna faced challenges with court skills, footwork, and hand-eye coordination. “I had NEVER played any sport my entire life,” she admits. However, her partner, Joe, with his background in handball, patiently taught her the ropes. They began with singles games, gradually building confidence and skill.
The early stages of playing pickleball were demanding. “I was still 80 pounds overweight at that point, but I was eager to keep playing this newfound fun activity,” Johnna says.
